Alcatel USB modem in OS 9
The following instructions are designed to support customers when installing Alcatel modems for ADSL connectivity with Mac OS8.6 and MAC OS9.x.
Installing the Alcatel Speedtouch
- Before starting the installation do NOT attach your modem to your machine. You will be asked to do this at a later stage.
- Insert the installation CD supplied with
your modem into your machine.
- On your desktop the CD-ROM icon will
appear:

- Double-click the CD-ROM icon to start the
installation process.
- A CD-ROM contents window will pop up
and should look similar to the one below:

- Double Click OS9 folder (even when using
Mac OS8.6) and then the following icon, to
start the installation process.

- A welcome screen will appear like the one below. To start the install process just double click on ‘Install’:

- When the installation process is complete you will get a message asking you to attach your modem to your computer. Once you have done this then press ‘OK’.
- A dialog box will now appear asking you if you want to carry out any more installations. This is not necessary so just click ‘Quit’.
Connecting to the Internet
- Open the ‘Modem Control panel’.
- The settings should look similar to the following screen:

- Close the ‘Modem Control Panel’ and when prompted, save the changes.
- Open the ‘TCP/IP Control Panel’ and enter the following information:

- Now open the ‘Remote Access’ control panel and add the following information:

- Name and password: You will find these details in your starter letter supplied by Opal.
- Note: Remember to put @online.rednet.co.uk after your ADSL login.
- You are now ready to connect to the internet via your Opal ADSL connection.
